COUNSELING WITH JENNIE
ABOUT ME
Jennie has over a decade of experience both nationally and internationally as an advocate for and educator of youth. In her work, Jennie is focused on guiding students as they prepare for transitions of all types. She is passionate about connecting with each individual to discover their personalized path, including community colleges, 4-year colleges, gap year programs and more. She especially enjoys helping students identify meaningful extracurricular activities and loves capturing their unique values and voices for essays and interviews.
Sessions are individualized to each student's needs and often involve planning for standardized testing, creating a college list, pursuing aptitude testing, identifying a major, building and drafting a resume, assembling a portfolio, writing essays, preparing for interviews, selecting a college, mastering life skills and more.
Jennie has also worked as an English, Psychology, and Life Skills teacher at Fusion Academy. She received her Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA Extension and is also a certified yoga and HeartMath instructor. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders with a Minor in Music from Brigham Young University. Jennie experienced the transformational effect of service learning as she pursued her own education. She wrote her undergraduate honors thesis on the delivery of post-operative speech therapy services to individuals with cleft palate in Amman, Jordan. She also taught English to youth in leprosy colonies in India. After graduation, Jennie worked with children and adults of varying learning differences in clinics and schools across the United States, including writing articles on presentations at the United Nations in NYC.
